Good Afternoon! I hope you guys are enjoying your Sunday. We just came back into town Friday night from Christmas-ing it up with our families all over the South. I had planned to share our Christmas with you on Wednesday via blog post but sadly I left my Nikon at my aunt’s house and didn’t get it back until Friday night. I have two Christmas re-caps for you. The first starts at my parents home in Newnan, where we are currently residing. My mom and I worked on decorating the house earlier in the week to prepare for the family to come into town. And by that I mean…my mom mostly decorated. I love it when our home is full of Christmas color and decor.
My sister Leah, her husband Greg and their two kids James & Emma, all came down on the Friday before Christmas. (Sadly my brother Brian & his wife Erin were in Virginia for Christmas this year, we missed them!) We spent time relaxing with one another on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon the ladies began prepping our Christmas dinner feast. My mom, sister & I made a Pork Loin, Rice Casserole with Mushrooms & Scallions, Roasted Veggies (pictured below) and a fresh salad.
I love making this combo of Roasted Vegetables: Red Potatoes, Carrots & Brussel Sprouts. I chop them up, add in 5 Garlic Cloves and season it all with (2) tbsp of Olive Oil and 1 tsp each: Salt, Pepper & Parsley. Roast them on 400 for 25-30 minutes and they will be tender and delicious.
My sister set up the dinner table so that we were all ready to go later when it was time to eat. Isn’t she lovely?
Then as my mom slaved away on the food, we started clicking away on the camera. We always manage to take 5,000+ photos until we get a good one.
Then it was time to pop some champagne…
And then take more pictures. My sister, mom & I posing by the tree.
Then it was time for the husbands to jump in aka we dragged them over and forced them to smile.
My dad didn’t make it for the photo-op. He tries to stay away but I always manage to sneak in a picture of him somehow. We ended our photo time and started laying out the food spread. Doesn’t it look delicious?
We also invited our neighbor over for dinner from France. He made some homemade chicken tenders and they were delicious! We all sat down around the table, gave thanks and then dug in. Here’s our family + Mr. Claude our neighbor.
What a fine looking bunch.
Then it was Christmas present time. The kids are Santa and bring gifts to everyone then we all take turns opening gifts and showing them to each other. James & Emma loved their gifts and James is wearing the fedora I gave him 🙂
Darin & I opened gifts and I loved the ones he and my family picked out for me. One of them being the tan & red purse you see on the right picture.
Overall it was a wonderful Christmas with my family and I have another post to come of our time in Florida with my mom’s side of the family! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year! We spent some time this morning planning out our goals for 2013 and things we want to work on as a couple. It will be a great year and we are looking forward to ringing it in tomorrow evening with friends. Pictures to come of that as well! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from the Wynns!
What was your favorite Christmas memory this year? Did you have a favorite gift or food that you ate?
